If your tendency is to lag putts short or dead weight, over the course of the year this alone could separate you from your current and aspired handicap. The solution is to redefine perfect pace as 1 foot past the hole.
Training your brain to repeat good behaviours is not unlike training a puppy. To reinforce the good stuff, acknowledge when you do.
This habit is really simple, if the ball misses the hole with your approach putt, but finishes between 4" and 20" after the ball, mentally pat yourself on the back. Even within a round, reinforcing this behaviour can reduce the number of putts you take.
